Back in October of last year, discussion that Nintendo will be present at the 2018 Game Awards with some sort of Metroid Prime news according to fan speculation. Following to the week of the show’s premier, talk of a Metroid Prime Trilogy was said to be revealed at the show which reassured worried fans if Prime 4 didn’t make an appearance.

Fast forwarding today into 2019, we know that neither titles were presented at Geoff Kieghley’s annual awards show. And we are familiar with the recent announcement that Metroid Prime 4 has recently announced to be restarting development, reverting all work since the game’s announcement back in E3 2017.

But according to Game Informer Senior Editor Imran Khan, the trio of Metroid Prime titles has “been long done”. In a recent tread of tweets from the videogame outlet editor, he shares that the trilogy bundle was initially aimed for a December announcement, but not specifically for The Game Awards.

He follows up on his statement via ResetEra that despite Prime 4’s development recommencement, more information circulating around Samus’s universe is set to release in the meantime.

If the Metroid Prime Trilogy is more than just a rumor, to release the previous titles on Switch would be a good way to keep fans occupied until the fourth installment has more to reveal in the following years.
