From the launch for Sea of Thieves until this very moment, the game has truly evolved from its original 2018 launch form. For one, rowboats alone are already revolutionary to the game for users that want to explore neighboring islands without destroying the ship’s hull. For Season 4 previously, developer Rare introduced new adventures beneath the waters with Siren Shrines to extract booty from.
A noted celebration for the game, Sea of Thieves also hit a new milestone recently. Announced back in October, Sea of Thieves officially hit 25 million players. But, that is not the only record broken this year. With the release of the A Pirate’s Life update, Sea of Thieves helmed its largest active player count with 4.8 million pirates playing at once.
Now this week, Sea of Thieves is to welcome Season Five for the game. And in that comes a boat load of quality-of-life improvements that only feel natural to welcome to the game. You can watch the update video in the footage below:
For starters, buried treasure is now achievable. While you can get maps to find it, now players can hide their own gold and treasures. The update is to also give you a map to relocate the treasure as well or you can post it for others to find. Another namely addition includes cannon-weilding rowboats. Yes, that’s a thing. Players can also nap and sit which is surely welcomed after the long adventures being a pirate brings.
More interesting is the fireworks that come to Sea of Theives. Either celebrating a job well done or for a holiday, you can also shoot flares as well. Either an SOS or even an alert that danger is on the bend of the waters, these new tools can be a life changer for those out and about. Other life changing additions are rats: if spotted on your ship, keep a close eye on them or you might find water breaking through your hull.
Are you excited for the latest update coming to Sea of Theives?
Sea of Thieves is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
