Shimizu Residence in Silent Hill f is one of the main story locations you enter after progressing through the Ebisugaoka areas. Progressing in this chapter can be challenging due to the numerous puzzles you need to solve. The enemies become more powerful, and defeating them can be a difficult task. Solve the My Room puzzle to gain access to Hinako’s parents’ area.
Learn the mechanics of Hinako’s Mother and Father to defeat them. Access Shimizu Residence III, obtain the Fletching Key, solve the puzzles, and open the door to the room with Shu’s voice to encounter the parents. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to progress in Shimizu Residence, including how to defeat Hinako’s parents.
Reach the Mountain
Travel all the way down to the mountain. Follow the path straight and find the shrine. Interact with it and save your progress. Pick up the bar and continue moving to the path. Go up from the stone stairs on your left to collect Yokan and Ramune. Travel through the path and see a cocoon hatching. Eliminate the enemy in this area and keep running on the path. Defeat the birthing monster on the way using your best weapon and the right tactics.
Eliminate the Monsters

Attacking the cocoon doesn’t allow the monster to come out of it. Killing the Birthing Monster can be quite challenging due to its unique attack pattern. The Birthing Monster will cough up blood and spit acid. You must dodge it when you see it coming. It also roars and screams, which stuns you if you get too close. If any cocoons become monsters, kill them first so they don’t distract you.
Since the Birthing Monster is slow, you can dodge, land hits, then back off to avoid its ranged attacks. Press R2 for a counter if you see a red glow around it. Once you defeat the Birthing Monster, don’t forget to perform Soul Siphon. Killing the Birthing Monster allows you to unlock the path ahead.
Move Way Down The Mountain

Continue moving down the mountain once you defeat the Birthing Monster. Pick up the crowbar from the left side of this area. Collect a bandage from behind the house. Take the stone stairs from the house and pick up the toolkit. Keep moving the main path after acquiring the items. Collect Omamori Suzuran from the house on the west.
Defeat two enemies nearby and get your hands on the bandage from the right side. Continue heaving down till you find two paths. Find the oldest Oinari-sama in the town by taking the left path. Read the Strick Mother’s letter and pick up Inari Sushi. Continue moving to the other side and go down.
Turn right and see a bright light. You need to go there and encounter Kashimashi. Defeating this enemy can be challenging due to its devastating attacks. Move around the house to take down two more enemies. The enemies that spawn here are Kashimashi and the Glowing Monster. Once you defeat both of them, move under the wooden tree, and move to the right side.
Navigate through the Town
Move all the way to the left to take a U-turn after getting inside the town. Move to the right side to enter the park. Your objective will be changed now, and you need to investigate it to get some clues. Get out of the park from the opposite side and turn to the left to defeat a cluster of enemies. After eliminating them, move to the path on the left and take a right turn. Pick up the Strict Mother’s Letter and a First Aid Kit on your way to the right. Move straight and go right to interact with the shrine to save your progress.
Move back to the Shimizu Residence

Continue traveling to the path on the left and encounter the Birthing Monster. Eliminate the enemy and take the stone stairs to move upward. Get inside the gate and move around the house. Kill all the enemies over there and pick up the toolkit. Find the exit on the right and take the stone stairs to go up. Be aware of the two monsters moving to the right side.
Use heavy attacks to dominate them and follow up with the light attacks to finish them off. Pick up the bandage from the right side after defeating them. You need to move around the house and take the stairs to go down to encounter two more enemies.
Collect the Red Capsule from the left on the stool. Travel all the way back to the stairs around the house and interact with the shrine to save your progress. Continue moving the path and move upward to get a bandage from the left. Defeat two enemies and move straight. Move to the right before getting inside the house and defeating two monsters. Pick up the chocolate and a bandage from this area. Return and move inside the house from the front gate.
Locate Shu and Rinko

A cutscene will commence after getting inside the house. Pick up the ringing phone and move ahead. Interact with the shrine and save your progress. Move to the right side and get inside the room on the east to acquire Higashi. Leave the room and continue moving on the path. Collect Red Capsule and start investigating the Door Mechanism. You need to follow the red light and pick the Calendar.
Return and move to the right and place the Calendar on the wall. Follow the path and open the door in front of you. Interact with the shrine and travel to the path on the right side to acquire Shriveled Abura-age.
Explore the House

Pick up the Picture Frame after opening the opposite door from where you arrive. Collect the toolkit and Red Capsule from the left side. Get out of the room and defeat the enemy waiting for you outside. Continue moving through the path and open the door in front of you. Collect the Dried Carcass from the right side and move inside the room on the east side. Defeat two enemies over there and pick the Sickle. Get inside the door ahead of you and open the door on the left to collect the Ema tablet.
Travel to the left side and get inside the room on your right. Pick up the Yellowed Calendar after the cutscene ends. Move to the path on the right and move to the end room on the left after opening the first door. There’s a page in Hinako’s Diary that needs to be picked, and Ramune is in this room.
Locate First Crest
Move back to the shrine and interact with it to save your progress. Get inside the last room on your right and collect a letter from a Man. Move out of the room, go to the left path, and take another left. Defeat the birthing monster in this area and get inside the room to the east. Collect the Kudzu Tea and leave this room. Continue moving to the right and move into the room on your left side.
Solve Scales Puzzle

The Solution of the Shimzu Residence Scales Puzzle depends on the ending of the game you’re playing, not your difficulty setting. During your first game, you will not have a choice. Everyone will have the same solution, regardless of their difficulty. To solve the puzzle of the Scales, you just have to put the doll with the broken head on the left and the other statuettes on the right side.
Doing so allows you to gain the token. You simply have to put the doll with the broken head, as well as one with the red clothes and the black hair on the left. Then all the other dolls and statuettes on the right side.
Story Difficulty (Scales Puzzle)
Put the headless doll on the left and all other dolls on the other side. Doing so allows the drawer at the bottom to pop up. You can gain the Scales Plate from the drawer. It’s best to distribute them to the left and right to balance both sides.
Hard Difficulty (Scales Puzzle)
The Scales puzzle in Hard Difficulty features some dolls. Solving this puzzle in Hard Difficulty can be challenging. You need to put the headless doll and the doll with a small mask on half face on one side, and the other dolls on the opposite side.
Get your hands on the crest by completing this puzzle. Move back to the shrine and save your game.
Obtain Fetching Key
Continue moving ahead to get inside the third section of this house. Go all the way to the end and open the door. Move to the end and get inside the room on the right. Examine Hinako’s diary from the lower mid portion. You also need to interact with the bookshelf. Investigating Hinako’s diary allows you to gain a Block of Wax.
Leave the room and continue moving to the path ahead. Avoid the monsters over there and get inside the room on the right. Collect the Propane Tube, a toolkit, and a Furoshiki, and return to the shrine. Go all the way to the end of the path and open the door.
Eliminate the monster after taking the left turn. Move to the west and open the second wooden door. Join the Propane after opening the door completely. Obtain the Fetching Key by placing the Block of Wax inside.
Solve Ominous Photo Puzzle

The Ominous Photo puzzle in Silent Hill f requires you to adjust the orientation of the frames in the photo room. You can locate Hinako’s Portrait in Shimizu Residence II. Make your way right inside the room on the right side after passing through the hallways. Go through multiple rooms in the center area of the floor till you find yourself in a room with photos that are hanging.
This is the simplest puzzle in the game and doesn’t have any complex mechanics. The solution is based on your current ending path. The rules of the puzzle don’t change, and the solution. The Ominous Photos area is defaced in multiple ways based on your difficulty and ending route. Below are the solutions for the Ominous puzzle in every ending in Silent Hill f.
- Coming Home to Roost- Place Hinako’s Photo in the space and rotate all the photos to be upright. Put Hinako upside down.
- Fox’s Wedding- Rotate the photos of Hinako and her parents in the upright direction. Turn the photos of Rinko, Shu, and Sakuko upside down.
- The Fox Wets Its Tail- Rotate the photos of Hinako, Shu, and Sakuko upright. Turn the photos of Rinko and Hinako’s Parents upside down.
- Ebisugaoka in Silence- Rotate the photo of Hinako upright. Turn all the photos of Hinako upside down.
Completing the Ominous Photo puzzle allows you to gain White Bird and Fox Crest from behind the large picture. Use these items while completing the My Room Puzzle to get access to Hinako’s room.
Acquire The Last Crest

Make your way back to the third hall and continue moving straight. Turn left and then move to the other left after reaching the end. Keep moving straight and move to the path on the left to open the first door on the left side. You need to avoid all the enemies over there and run past them.
Use the Fetching Key to open the locked door. A cutscene will trigger after entering the next room. Approach the table to get your hands on the last crest, Black Bird, and Sword Plate. Travel all the way back to the first area and interact with the shrine to save your progress. Place all the crests you obtained into the door on the right side.
Solve My Room Puzzle

Finding and aligning the Crests on the door to get access to Hinako’s room in the My Room puzzle. The solution for this puzzle changes based on the ending being processed. However, the location for the Crests remains the same regardless of the Difficulty. Silent Hill offers four distinct endings, including the Coming Home to Roost Ending, Fox’s Wedding Ending, The Fox Wets Its Tail Ending, and Ebisugaoka in Silence Ending. Completing the My Room puzzle in every ending is different.
Make sure to complete other puzzles before solving this one. Completing this puzzle allows you to gain the Pine Tree Emblem from Hinako’s Room. Get access to the unknown area by using this item on the door with the missing emblem.

Once you get your hands on all three Crests, head back to the puzzle in Shimizu Residence I. Interacting with the puzzle allows the crests to be placed in the incorrect order. Read your Journal and place the crests correctly based on the hints. The Sword Plate moves all the way to the left. Place the Scales Plate and flip it to the bottom side. Don’t need to make any changes in the top area. Place the Fox Plate in the right spot. Placing all the crests in the correct order allows you to gain the Pine Tree Emblem.
Once you complete the My Room puzzle, you obtain the Pine Tree Emblem. Use this wooden badge on the door to take you into the boss fight with Hinako’s parents.
Defeat Hinako’s Parents

Hinako’s father has the same pattern, as he is the Ara-Abare-like creature. The mother focuses on throwing the knives at you that you can dodge pretty easily. Make sure you’re maintaining a good distance from the mother. Hinako’s father will rush towards you, so get ready to dodge the attack and get an opening for the counterattack.
Perform a heavy attack to stun them and then follow up with the light attack to deal much damage. You need to keep both bosses in sight and defeat Hinako’s father first. If the mother dies first, then Hinako’s father gets more powerful. Defeating the father before the mother in combat allows you to gain Just Shut Up for Once, Dad! Award. Below are all the attacks of Hinako’s Parents in Silent Hill f.
- Overhead Smash- The father raises his blade to hit Hinako. You can counter this attack when he is swinging the blade.
- Running Slam- The father rushes towards you and slams the blade down in the overhead.
- Sweeping Attack- sweeps in front of with his lasher twice and sweeps with both arms if the Mother dies.
- Knife Throw- Throws her knife at in a ranged attack.
A cutscene will appear on the screen after defeating Hinako’s parents, and that’s where the Shimizu Residence (Chapter 10) ends.
