Sony Interactive Entertainment announced during its PlayStation State of Play in Japan, it would be releasing a Japanese-language only SKU for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. The Japan-only PS5 will be released on November 21, 2025, and will cost 55,000 Yen.
Pre-orders for the Japanese-only PlayStation 5 Digital Edition go live on November 13.
It’s also worth noting that the Japanese language SKU is cheaper than the all-language SKU for PS5, which is currently 72,980 Yen. That’s almost 20,000 Yen cheaper.
The Japanese-language PlayStation 5 can only be used with PlayStation Network accounts that are registered in Japan, and the language cannot be changed.
Sony also released a new commercial for the console in Japan.
In other news, Sony shared that Destiny 2 has yet to deliver the desired results for PlayStation since Bungie was acquired. This is the second time this year we’ve seen Japan get a specific console. Nintendo released a Switch 2 Japanese language console, which is cheaper than the regular Switch 2 that is out worldwide.
