In recent weeks, Days Gone continues to ring throughout the video game industry as new conversations continue to spark on the 2019-shipped title. While a PlayStation 4 exclusive, the game arrived as a mixed-received title and appeared to potentially be frowned upon by Sony Interactive Entertainment at the time. Followed by a report from Bloomberg indicating such, a sequel was unlikely to happen.
Grasping more details, game director Jeff Ross told that a sequel was planned for Days Gone with co-op in mind, but could not confirm it is in development. And similarly, creative director John Garvin went on to encourage that the game’s performance is to blame no follow-ups to the game. There were mentions of a new IP, but no comment was made on the matter in the conversation.
But, while it is unclear the direction Bend Studio is heading, a new IP is on the way says Sony Interactive Entertainment.
New IP is incredibly important to us. New IP is the lifeblood of gaming. But, new IP is just one aspect of our strategy. Ultimately, I want PlayStation Studios to be fiercely daring, to take risks. I want us to continue to embrace the legacy of PlayStation, pushing the boundaries of gaming, keep making games that matter. Games that, probably, wouldn’t have been made anywhere else.
And you know, Bend Studio is working on a very exciting new IP that they’re very, very passionate about. They’re building on the deep open-world systems that they developed with Days Gone. So I’m really happy for Bend Studio.

Of course, the biggest move so far since launch of Days Gone initially happened to be the recent port to PC. And the decision is only the start for more to come as you might expect. In a recent financial report from Sony, it is discovered the next PC project appears to be for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as the next candidate for the campaign.
Elsewhere in the blog post, it is also told that both Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 & Santa Monica Studio’s God of War: Ragnarok are to ship in 2022. Even more, the two are also expecting last-generation versions for PlayStation 4 alongside the PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
