Since the announcement of Battlefield 2042, fans questioned what exactly will come with the new game. For starters, there is no single-player campaign. However, there is a new experience underway: Hazard Mode. Presumed to be a battle royale game type, DICE at the time did not comment on what the new experience mode will be then.

However, DICE alongside Ripple Effect unveiled Battlefield Portal. Combining the likeness of Battlefield 3, Battlefield 1942, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 delivers a new avenue for players looking to delve into combat outside of the near-future setting that base Battlefield 2042 will ship with at launch. But, new information has arose on the previously mentioned Hazard Zone.

In a new trailer from DICE, Hazard Zone reiterates on the similarly structured battle royale mode with squad-based objectives as teams of four drop into a large vista to fight their way through. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:

“Inserted as a four-member squad, you must locate and retrieve critical Data Drives scattered throughout the battlefield, while fighting opposing squads with the same objective and Occupying Forces,” DICE writes for the mode’s overview. “Succeed by gathering the Data Drives and choosing when to extract before a storm overtakes the area in this high-stakes, one-life experience. Every bullet, every skirmish, and every decision counts.”

It was just this past week that developer DICE went on to deliver an open beta for Battlefield 2042. Alike previous playtests that we saw with Call of Duty: Vanguard & Halo Infinite, the open beta allows users to test the waters and provides feedback to the game studio for preparation of the game’s full release later this fall.

Additionally, DICE made a new statement on Battlefield 2042 as well recently. With that, the game no matter its version will provide a next-generation upgrade at no additional cost. Previously, the feature was only provided to the Gold or Ultimate Edition of the game. You can read the full report by heading here.
