In 2023, many fans were ecstatic to discover a new Super Mario Bros. title was coming to Nintendo Switch – Super Mario Bros. Wonder. “Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a masterpiece in the 2D platforming space that showcases Nintendo’s creativity and innovation in the genre. It is an experience full of wonder, as the name suggests, and is a celebration of the Mario namesake, appealing to both fans and newcomers alike,” our review for the game reads.

Not only was it a new game for the series, it was also delivering a new record holder for the IP as well. At launch, Super Mario Bros. Wonder was reported to being the fastest-selling installment for the entirety of the series. Additionally, it was later calculated that Super Mario Bros. Wonder shipped over 4 million copies within the first two weeks of release.

Now in 2025, Nintendo during its Friday Direct presentation announced a ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Version’ for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“More experiences are coming to the Flower Kingdom! Enjoy a variety of attractions in the Bellabel Park plaza that lets you team up with (or work against) friends and family. Collect the most coins, run and hide in Phanto Tag, work together to pass a Bob-omb to the goal and more! This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds even more content and enhancements as well; stay tuned for additional info in the future.”

Nintendo also teases a new Talking Flower toy that will release in the near future too. “Place one (or two!) in your home to add a little extra fun to your day. These flowers will talk, and while they can’t converse, sometimes they’ll even talk on their own (if you want them to). These Talking Flowers are planned to bloom in spring 2026.”

How excited are you for Super Mario Bros. Wonder?

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is out now for Nintendo Switch; projected to release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.
