Super Mario Run is only a day old and it is ready to set a new record as the biggest launch in the history of the app store on iOS. According to analytics firm Apptopia, the game was downloaded 2.85 million times in its first day of availability.
That even beats out Pokémon Go, which was downloaded 900,000 times in its first day, according to Apptopia’s data. The thing is that Super Mario Run was available in 150 countries at launch and Pokemon GO had to keep adding the game to countries after the launch and I believe they are not done yet adding the game to other regions.
Pokémon Go currently holds the record for most first-week downloads in App Store history and most likely will stay at that since it was available on both iOS and Android for free as with Super Mario Run it costs $9.99 for the full game, but it is good quality. The only difference is one has microtransactions and one makes you pay 10 bucks so you don’t have to deal with buying in game items.
