Tracking back more than a month ago, a rating for Doom 64 surfaced which revealed that the 1997 title exclusive to the Nintendo 64 will be making a return to modern consoles in the coming future. And now, that time is upon us as Nintendo has revealed that the port is in fact in development and will be arriving right before Thanksgiving this year.
During today’s Nintendo Direct livestream, Nintendo with the help from Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines shared that in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Doom, the 22 year-old game will be coming to Nintendo Switch later in November.
Unlike Doom II which released three years before the excusive 64 game, the 1997 title was shipped with a bundle of adjustments that include weapons, sounds, and some game changing elements. Naming a few such as the introduction of the Unmarker laser weapon, the two-chained chainsaw, and recoil/kick for both the shotgun & rocket launcher.
Although the game is listed to release in two month for the Nintendo Switch, the port for other platforms has yet to be discussed for its respected launch. Initially when discovering the listing for the port back in July, the title was said to release for PlayStation 4 and PC. But looking at the original trilogy that released prior to the discovery did similarly and launched for all major platforms.
