Main Review by Paul Farrelly, with help from Will “FncWill” Hogeweide

Texas Hold It is a hilariously ridiculous card game that mixes easy-to-grasp mechanics, a bit of strategy, and a whole lot of toilet humor. Taking cues from the quirky art style of Cyanide and Happiness (Explosm), the game goes all in on its wild theme and serves up a funny, easy-going experience. If you love bluffing games, or other Cyanide and Happiness/Explosm games like Joking Hazard, Master Dater, or Trial by Trolley, or maybe just want to add something different to your game night, Texas Hold It brings a cool twist to the party vibe.

Quick and Easy Setup

This game really grabs your attention right from the start. The setup is super simple, the rules are a breeze to get, and the laughs kick in right away. But, under its goofy setup, there’s actually a smart game of strategy and trickery going on. I’ll admit, my initial reaction to the theme—a cowboy restroom showdown—was a mix of amusement and skepticism. But after a few games with friends, it was obvious that Texas Hold It totally embraces its weirdness and makes it part of its charm.

Fun Gameplay

I think the best part of the game is how it brings people together and creates those social vibes. The bluffing, second-guessing, and those hilarious moments when the cards come out make it an awesome game for hanging out with friends. Honestly, I noticed it doesn’t really flow the same way with just two players; the gameplay can get a little too predictable. This game really shines when you’ve got a group around. The chaos of having multiple players makes every choice feel way more impactful.

Replayability

The real charm of Texas Hold It is how much fun it is to play again and again with friends. Every round brings something new as players bluff, sneak a look, and switch up urinals to either keep themselves safe or mess with the competition. The vibe gets intense as cards are flipped and players start to see what their decisions really mean. Even if you’re not great at the game (like me, with my many unfortunate soakings), the laughs and hanging out with friends make it totally worth it.

Final Thoughts

Texas Hold It is a riotously funny party game that’s perfect for casual gatherings. It might not be as great in smaller groups, but it totally shines when you’ve got a bigger crowd around. It’s just super fun! I think the best part of the game is how it brings people together and creates those social vibes. The bluffing, second-guessing, and those hilarious moments when the cards get turned over make it an awesome game for hanging out with friends.

The flip side of that is with a smaller group of course. I noticed it doesn’t really hit the same with just two players; the gameplay can feel a bit too predictable. This game really shines when you’ve got a group around. The chaos of having multiple players makes every choice feel way more important. Beers optional of course!

If you’re into bluffing games and a bit of toilet humor, you should add this one to your game collection. Great one to play after the Christmas dinner!
