The delay for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is not due to ‘Platform Limitations’

Black Myth: Wukong had a fantastic launch for Game Science as it sold over 10 million copies worldwide on PC and PlayStation 5. The game also reached over 3 million concurrent players across the platforms. In June, it was announced that the Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong was delayed and reports shared the reason for this was the Xbox Series S.

It wouldn’t be the first time a developer had an issue bringing its game to the Xbox Series S as Baldur’s Gate 3 was delayed for that reason.

In a statement to Forbes, Microsoft stated that the delay is “not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us”

“As we have said before, we’re excited for the launch of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We’d prefer not to comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders but we can confirm that the delay is not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us.”

Other reports from outlets indicated that PlayStation provided cash and resources for Black Myth: Wukong to make it to their platform. That has not been confirmed nor denied. Game Science or Sony has not made a comment regarding that.
