The Game Awards 2021: Forspoken Launches This Coming May For PlayStation 5, PC

Over at Square Enix, the firm is continuously pushing the envelope with exciting announcements this past The Game Awards on Thursday. Already, fans quickly learned that Babylon’s Fall is scheduled to release this coming March for PlayStation & PC. However, there is a much more anticipated launch happening this month.

While originally exclusive for PlayStation, Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to PC next week as well. However, truly next-generation releases are also coming from the Japanese publisher. One being Forspoken: in development from Luminous Productions, the new game is paved to release in 2022. Previously, the title was listed for this January from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

However, the PlayStation company went on to iron out that among a handful other listings from the CES video for PlayStation 5 at the time. But at The Game Awards once more, Square Enix shares Forspoken ships this May. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“In the new trailer, fans are given a closer look at the mysterious land of Athia and meet some of its last remaining citizens. Players also learn about the impending corruption called the “Break”: a devastating miasma that relentlessly corrupts everything it touches. Frey has somehow mysteriously survived this strange phenomenon, offering Athia a beacon of hope,” the press release discloses.

“New action-packed gameplay featured in the trailer showcases how Frey’s quest in Athia will take her through a variety of diverse environments where she will learn how to use magic parkour to traverse across the unknown land in a fast and fluid manner, as well as her magic abilities to battle Athia’s dangerous beasts that she will encounter on her journey, including the newly revealed Breakzombies and Jabberwock.”

Previously, it was discovered that Forspoken is another timed console exclusive for PlayStation 5. In one trailer, it is shared that the game is only unique for PlayStation 5 for two years. So it is likely we will see a Xbox Series X|S port sometime coming in 2024. You can read the full report by heading here.
