During the weekend, it was reported by a known leaker in the Call of Duty world that the next installment in the series, Modern Warfare 4, was being tested on PS4. Over 24 hours later, Activision has spoken out about this viral rumor.
Today, the official Call of Duty account on X (Twitter) confirmed that the next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.
“Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.”
When the report came out, it was almost believable since Activision has released Black Ops 7 on PS4. However, it looks like they are focused on current and future hardware for the upcoming Call of Duty projects.
What’s even more interesting is that Activision used the term “next Call of Duty”. Reports that have been shared are confident that the next title will be ‘Modern Warfare 4’ or at least a continuation of the rebooted Modern Warfare series.
