When it comes to Mundfish, the team delivered with 2023’s Atomic Heart. Our review scored it an 8/10, stating: “Atomic Heart is an easy recommendation if you’re a fan of Wolfenstein, Bioshock, or immersive first-person shooters.” So it made sense that a sequel would also been greenlit as well by Focus Interactive. Not only that, but the greater universe is expanding with two standalone releases as well.
Additionally, Atomic Heart has received a wealth of post-launch support. Since shipping in early 2023, the title has received three major story expansions: ‘Annihilation Instinct’, ‘Trapped in Limbo’, and ‘Enchantment Under the Sea‘. And a new DLC is out this week for fans that are still returning to Atomic Heart in 2026.
On Thursday, new add-on ‘Blood on Crystal’ arrives to all supported platforms. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:
“Experience the thrilling, high-stake conclusion of Atomic Heart with Blood on Crystal DLC#4! P-3, the Twin and their comrades must venture deeper in Facility 3826 than ever before to battle CHAR-les and make a last desperate bid to save humanity from total annihilation. Visit the new Wave Platform, the classified Crystal Complex and unearth the unspeakable truth behind CHAR-les’ nefarious plans,” the synopsis for the new DLC reads.
“Take on the ultimate threats as you meet and face off against the Polymorphs, a new cast of mysterious beings spawned from the horrific experiments of CHAR-les himself. Harnessing the properties of polymer to assume elemental forms, they will force you to adapt your fighting style on the fly and make the most of your arsenal. Thankfully, you now have access to the mightiest glove abilities and weapons to deal with them, and you’ll need all the firepower you can get against the most insane bosses of Facility 3826!”
