Upon exploring the future of Halo Infinite, fans are interested to believe that the roadmap ahead – despite the current state of the game – will deliver a fulfilling experience for the long road planned for the game. Phil Spencer himself told that Halo Infinite will be here for the next decade following the release of the game. With the state of Halo 5 Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection post-launch, that hope is understandable.
Howbeit, the question lingers on towards the longevity of the game’s state now two months since launch. With the release of the game back in December, the title swiftly climbed the charts as it received critic acclaim for revitalizing the IP that changed first-person shooters forever. But, there has been a steady drop off for the game in the weeks following which is linked to the state of the game so far.
On Steam, the title went from the top 10 most played to the top 120s in less than a dozen weeks. But, Xbox remains to be the most popular platform for Halo. Although concurrent players is not recorded for the platform, the game stands upon the top 5 most played. That was until this weekend discovering the game is now #6 as found by Forbes then.
The full list reveals Xbox’s top ten most played to be: Fortnite, Call of Duty Warzone, Grand Theft Auto V, Apex Legends, Roblox. Halo Infinite, Rainbow Six Siege, Forza Horizon 5, NBA 2K22, and Destiny 2. In the past few weeks, 343 Industries has addressed the issues plaguing the game and plans to deliver more within the coming weeks including store changes and what players are rewarded from the battle pass.
One noteworthy mention is the latest report pointing towards the future of Halo Infinite. In a story from Windows Central, long-time Halo support developer Certain Affinity is said to be working on an unannounced PvPvE game mode for Halo Infinite dubbed ‘Project Tatanka’. Those concerned about Halo Infinite’s player base might be reassured if this ambition materializes down the road. You can read the full report by heading here.
