The Switch 2 Piranha Plant Camera is only 480p

After the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed, many third-party accessory companies released information about their versions of some official Nintendo products. One of the leading manufacturers, HORI, revealed the Piranha Plant Camera for the Switch 2, which appealed to fans more than the ordinary one.

The interesting part of this Piranha Plant Camera is that it’s projected to be at least $20 cheaper than the official Switch 2 Camera that is listed as $50. At first, we didn’t know the quality difference between the two, but now we do, thanks to more information discovered by VGC.

The Piranha Plant Switch 2 Camera will only be able to capture at 480p, while the official Switch 2 Camera will capture a resolution of 1080p.

Those who may want more style with their Nintendo Switch 2 may still prefer the Camera by HORI and it is cheaper. With how prices are for the console players may want to get the cheaper option to start with.

Players can close Piranha Plant’s mouth when they are not using the camera to help avoid switching it on by accident. The camera also comes with a USB-C cable that will allow you to plug it on the top of the console to play on handheld or docked mode.

The Switch 2 Camera is a major part of the new GameChat feature Nintendo is promoting with the console. This will allow you to share your face while also showing your gameplay to friends. It can also be used in games like Super Mario Party Jamboree.

GameChat will be available for free until March 31, 2026.
