The Xbox 360 may go down as the best console that Microsoft has come out with since they stepped into the gaming space in 2001 with the Xbox. As of July 29, 2024, around noon, the Xbox 360 Marketplace has officially shut down meaning you will no longer be able to purchase games, DLC, gamer pics, and anything else on the Xbox 360 store.

After 19 years the Xbox 360 will never feel the same although we are two generations ahead of the console with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. This is the first time that players will never be able to purchase on the Xbox 360 marketplace ever again.
Does this impact backward compatibility on Xbox Series X|S? No, you will still be able to purchase Xbox 360 games that are backward compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through the main store on those consoles.
In honor of this news for the Xbox 360, Microsoft released a Blades-themed dynamic background that is available on Xbox Series X|S.
