When conversations came up about the next-generation consoles back in 2020, the biggest conversation centered around the question, ‘will I be able to place a pre-order?’ Following that well into 2022, that is the same issue for many still searching to get their hands on the newest Xbox or PlayStation. But, another concern was the growing price for new games.
For more than a decade, $60 was the universal price for AAA releases. But, the new generation introduced $70 which is still considered a controversial decision. Despite that, publishers like Take-Two Interactive & 2K alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment embraced this new pricing decision. At the time, Ubisoft told it would also be making the transition sometime following the launch.
Now in a recent interview with Axios Gaming, it is revealed that the firm will be welcoming the price point for future releases following Skull & Bones. The title is the first to pioneer Ubisoft’s $70-priced games and will have more releases follow by that example. “Some of the games will come at the same price as the competition. The big AAA games will come at $70,” he expressed.
Other Ubisoft news came from last week’s Ubisoft Forward presentation. Among the many reveals at the show, the firm revealed three new titles are in the works for the Assassin’s Creed IP. That includes China-set Project Jade on mobile and Assassin’s Creed Infinity’s Project Red for Japan and Holy Roman Empire-based Project Hexe.
Additionally, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope revealed its upcoming DLC for the October title. In that, Ubisoft-owned character Rayman will be added as an add-on later on next year in 2023. You can read the full report by heading here.
