Bethesda released mods for Fallout 4 to consoles to much success recently with little issues, the biggest one that Bethesda have faced is theft. However Bethesda are implementing a new process to stop this.
Previously you did not require any sort of authorization to upload mods, however now Bethesda.net requires a Steam-linked account before any upload can happen.
This process was implemented with the latest title update to Fallout 4 that happened this past week. This title update was also used to prepare PlayStation 4 and PC players to receive the mod support that Xbox currently enjoys.
When mod support first came to consoles at the end of May, many PC modded found that their work had been taken from nonofficial, third-party hosting sites such as Nexus Mods and then uploaded to Bethesda.net for use on Xbox One.
Bethesda’s original response to this problem was to create a channel through which mod creators could file complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and then have the content removed.
The argument behind the original lifting of the mods was due to the fact that many console players called PC modders lazy or selfish for not uploading some of the most popular and publicising mods to the consoles.
