Predating back to November, Season 2 ‘Lone Wolves’ as it comes to a close for Halo Infinite did bring something many players were counting the days to arrive – Forge Mode. Noted, this version for the game is labeled a beta, but majority of it is in its entirety already with plenty more than prior iterations featured for the Halo franchise. Not to mention December welcomed a custom game browser to better sort and play user-created content.
At the same time, Forge began to make its way into matchmaking multiplayer as well. 343 Industries announced Halo 3 map ‘The Pit’ will be remade with the Forge Mode toolset. Under the new moniker ‘Empyrium’ gives the hallmark arena a new theme under purple lighting. By February, 343 Industries established a new playlist solely containing player-made maps.
And with Season 3 ‘Echoes Within’ also to feature community-created arenas as well, players are continuing to engage with the would-building suite from Halo Infinite. Recently, 343 Industries made aware that more than one million creations were published via Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode since its inception this fall.
In November, the Winter Update brought a host of new maps, modes, and features to Halo Infinite. One of the most exciting additions was the Forge Beta, a powerful fan-favorite toolset that Spartans have used to unleash their creativity since its inception in Halo 3. We’re happy to announce that, as of January 2, more than 1 million creations have been forged!
Michael Schorr, 343 Industries Forge Lead Designer
“We followed up the release of the Forge Beta with the addition of the Custom Game Browser in December, allowing players to host and connect to custom matches, including Forge creations. As of January 2, more than 8.5 million custom matches had been played since Custom Game Browser launched,” Schorr adds.
“Earlier this month, we featured four amazing community Forge creations in the Community Collection playlist, which has been the most popular Halo Infinite playlist since the game’s launch. This playlist will continue to be updated with even more community content in the future, so stay tuned!”
