This week surely has been eventful for Xbox fans as they are in preparation for tomorrow’s Xbox Game Showcase to present the lineup of next-generation titles for the approaching Xbox Series X. In a recent interview with Polygon, Phil Spencer shared with the outlet that the coming lineup will be “diverse” in titles when the new console arrives later this holiday season. With fans craving to learn about the new platform, this is monumental to uncover after Microsoft has been near radio silent for majority of 2020.

Of course, there are some properties to expect like Everwild from Sea of Thieves team Rare, Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, and the anticipated Halo Infinite. But in regards to the abundance of other unique announcements that are presumed to be shared in this week’s presentation, that is left unknown as of writing. While there are suggesting of potential returns for classic series like Fable & Perfect Dark, nothing has been solidified yet.

But to reiterate on Spencer’s recent statement, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella in the firm’s most recent earnings call told a similar story. In that, Nadella explains that the Xbox Series X will be shipping with a library of next-generation, first-party titles never seen before for a console.

In content, we are delivering differentiated, first and third-party content to attract and retain gamers. Xbox Series X will launch this fall with the largest launch lineup for any console ever.

Nadella continues further by sharing the achievements that the Xbox platform has made during the current financial quarter. Stating that “record engagement and monetization” was recorded as users pursued online entertainment and gaming during these unprecedented times. Xbox Game Pass has been a leading factor for the influx of players in recent weeks with “extensive subscriber growth”, Nadella adds.

Moreover, Nadella discloses that the universal user count of active Xbox Live owners almost tips into 100 million where he speaks in parallel about the addition of Project xCloud later this September. “We will bring xCloud to Xbox Game Pass, so subscribers can stream games to a phone or tablet and play along with nearly 100 million Xbox Live players around the world.”

It was reported earlier this year that Xbox Game Pass has exceeded just over 10 million users since its conception back in 2017. Leading into the next-generation alongside its integration with PC just over a year ago, it is presumed that metric will continue to increase as more players are being attracted to the service-based business model.
