This past Thursday became quite a monumental moment for 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite. It was that the video game studio officially unveiled the gameplay demo for the approaching launch title and metaphorically fed the hunger of ecstatic fans patiently waiting. The developer following the segment of the presentation disclosed that more details regarding the multiplayer would arrive in the “coming months”, 343 Industries Chris Lee stated.
However, not too long after the showcase that took place that rumors began to linger around that suggested fans might be getting ahead of themselves with the newest entry. In that, Brad Sams claimed that the multiplayer portion of the coming first-person shooter would not be arriving with the game at launch. The allegation swiftly drew uproar towards the project and only fueled the flames surrounding other complaints with the title.
In response to the rumor picking up wind, 343 Industries’ Community Director Brian Jarrad shared on Twitter that the claim is not accurate. “This is not true,” Jarrad writes in the post.
Taken that Halo has cultivated more than a generation of followers through its multiplayer experience and intense matchmaking, it was hard to believe the rumor at face value. Sams is notable for his insider tips regarding Microsoft and its properties including Xbox. So it was best to let the story develop before taking it as fact initially.
Expanding on that, it is proper to question the Sams’ credibility since he has let up on other Microsoft-related projects previously. The most notable is his report disclosing that the coming Project Lockhart would be abandoned as Microsoft emphasizes its attention on the then-codenamed Project Scarlett. But now looking at several insiders confident the weaker SKU will be revealed in the coming months, it’s safe to presume that Sam’s source wasn’t legitimate.
In other Halo Infinite-related news, the listing for the game on the Microsoft Store reveals that cross-play will be available at launch as well. The online for the coming project will bridge matchmaking between Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. You can read the full report by heading here.
Are you relieved that multiplayer will be ready for Halo Infinite later this year?
Halo Infinite is coming the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC sometime in holiday 2020.
