Reflecting on the current Season 5 ‘Fortune’s Favor’ in Apex Legends, the battle royale has once again proven to be one of the most involved projects currently available from Electronic Arts. The publisher disclosed early on when Season 5 initiated by sharing the popularity of the update exceeds player counts of prior Seasons in the history of the battle royale. And looking ahead, Respawn Entertainment noted to be acknowledging the long-lasting potential of Apex Legends.

In that, the firm shared that a second studio would be opening up in Vancouver, Canada to exclusively prioritize Apex Legends for future projects in line for the 2019-shipped title. However, there was already more underway for the title as Respawn Entertainment dropped a bomb back in June: Apex Legends would be receiving cross-play support.

With the addition of cross-platform play, Respawn Entertainment also teased that Nintendo Switch users could expect the game to ship in the coming future as well. Now in a new scheduled announcement today, the developer has unveiled the newest season alongside a glimpse at its newest Legend. You can view the launch trailer in the video below:

Featuring the newest addition to the Apex Legends roster, Rampart is said to be “an expert modder who made her name in underground fight clubs, Rampart talks big and has the ballistics to back it up.” While specifics were not mentioned regarding how she operates in The Outlands, she does for one segment of the trailer man a make-shift turret – presuming that to be her ultimate ability.

Additionally, a new weapon dubbed the ‘Volt’ is a energy-efficient SMG with a heavier kick than its light ammo counterparts. Crafting is also being expanded upon as Crafting Materials are said to be littered on the map to provide more for making our own cosmetics. Of course, there will also be an updated Ranker matchmaking alongside a new Battle Pass with 100 tiers of unlocks for avid players to crack open.

Elsewhere in recent month, it was reported that Electronic Arts is pursuing the mobile version of Apex Legends to ship in late 2020. However, that will only take place within China. Global shipment of mobile support for Apex Legends is said to arrive sometime in 2021. You can read the full report by heading here.
