
For avid video game players of last generation, you might remember Braid – a time-based puzzle platformer with a mesmerizing backdrop and colorful universe waiting to be explored. Initially shipping on Xbox 360 followed by a PC and PlayStation 3 release later on, Braid stood to be one of the most prolific entries for preceding systems as a marvelous achievement for independent developer ambitions.
Now more than a decade since the title graces the industry, Braid is finally returning with a new retouched version of the classic 2D platformer. During today’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, Thekla Inc. announced Braid, Anniversary Edition for PlayStation 4 and its next-generation sibling.

“The graphics in the game are being hand-repainted by original artist David Hellman,” Thekla Inc. President Jonathan Blow issues in a blog post. “It’s not just an image-by-image repaint, though: we’re reimagining some areas to make them more special, now that we are running on higher-powered machines; we’re adding extra animations to the character, so that movement feels more fluid and responsive; and just going over the whole game, improving the fit and finish on many fine details.”
In addition to the reworking of the game’s appearance, players can also find the musical atmosphere for Braid has also been redone for its Anniversary Edition. Thekla Inc. also told to emphasize on the developer commentary within Braid by including ‘in-game hyperlink portals’ to access different levels of discussion on video game history, design, and art.
Elsewhere during today’s State of Play livestream, IO Interactive revealed PlayStation VR can expect Hitman 3 to support the peripheral at launch next year. You can read the full report by heading here.
