It is an act of nature for things to further evolve as time unravels for fundamental elements that is created by man. And that also applies to console hardware with each generation that comes. That is evident with both Sony and Microsoft shipping new products as fresh hardware comes after a certain life cycle. This is also applied to mid-generation hardware as well.
Alike with the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, we received the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro later in time. And, at least, for Xbox Series X, a similar turn in nature is said to be inevitable for the next-generation console. That is told by Xbox lead Phil Spencer who when speaking to Kotaku in a recent interview disclosed that time will repeat itself in the same regards as its predecessor.
While Spencer softly presses on the matters, he does spare enough information suggesting there is a likeliness that there will be a mid-generation successor to the Xbox Series X.
I think, like you’ve seen in past generations, that we will iterate on hardware. We’ve already started, right? Our team doesn’t go away, when we kind of lock the spec. Some of it is cost. That’s always the important thing. How do you drive down the cost of the console in the parts that are there, but also just looking at areas in terms of what are the next iterations that you might do?
Gathered from the current hands-on interpretations from industry insiders and influencers with the Xbox Series X, there are many glowing things said about the system. Howbeit, it is not the perfect console. Like with everything, there are still things like hiccups and other inconsistencies that comes with the console. But despite that, these problems might be a thing of the past when the newer iteration arrives – whenever that is.
One thing that should be noted is the heat gathered inside the console. While the unit is reported to overtake its predecessor and last-generation competitor PlayStation 4, the system is still emitting more heat than PCs equipped with a RTX 3080 and other similar components. Factors as such can be minimized once properly isolated on new hardware later on.
In the same interview, Spencer also pressed on the matters of the Xbox One and its still-standing integrity, He shares that Microsoft looks to further preserve the lifespan of the current-generation console by integrating xCloud support for the device. You can read the full report by heading here.
