PlayStation Head Believes $70 Is A Justified Price For PlayStation 5 Games

For many on PlayStation 5, there is a new trend that might further continue on the next-generation machine: a $70 price tag for games coming to the platform. While the practice is certainly not unheard of, it is curious that the firm would increase pricing of software for its first-party games as the competitor is not following that patch, at least as of reporting.

Earlier on, there did happen to be a report from Bloomberg suggesting that the Sony Interactive Entertainment wanted to pursue making the unique properties on PlayStation even more than $70. However, in a new interview with Ryan at The Telegraph, PlayStation lead Jim Ryan told that to be “categorically false.” However, Ryan does press on his impressions for the new price of games.

Given that games already such as Demon’s Souls and Sackboy A Big Adventure are both victim to the $70 pricing, Ryan shares to approve of the decision for the games so far. When asked if he believed it to be a fair price, he responded:

Yes, yes, I do. If you measure the hours of entertainment provided by a video game, such as Demon’s Souls compared to any other form of entertainment, I think that’s a very straightforward comparison to draw.

But while Ryan does agree with the justification for an increase in price for Sony Interactive Entertainment titles, it does not solidify all games will become of that. Given that some titles are already facing a $70 price, internal teams might not adopt the new pricing. “I’m not making any predictions about anything that might or might not happen in the future,” he tells.

On more pressing matters regarding the PlayStation 5, Kotaku recently reported that there are more than 100 titles that face issues through the console’s backwards compatibility program.
