Upon dissecting the grater future for PlayStation 5, many of its releases are not oriented until 2022 at the earliest. Excluding Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West still presumed to launch in 2021, both God of War: Ragnarok & Gran Turismo 7 is gathered to hit the PlayStation 5 next year, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirms.
Additionally, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is also paved for a release next year as well according to one announcement earlier this month at Summer Game Fest. However, there also appears to be plans for Ghost of Tsushima as well. While the game is updated for PlayStation 5, a potential new game is also potentially in the pipeline according to a LinkedIn profile for one Sucker Punch Productions employee.
Now on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut surfaces on Tuesday. The overview for the title is available to read below:
This is an action game in which players assume the role of a samurai (Jin Sakai) on a quest for vengeance against Mongol invaders in 13th century Japan. Players traverse open-world environments, interact with characters, complete quests (e.g., assassinations), and infiltrate enemy strongholds. Players use samurai swords, poison darts, and arrows to battle enemies in third-person melee-style combat. Some attacks result in dismemberment/decapitation of enemy soldiers, often accompanied by large blood-splatter effects.
Players can also perform assassination kills (e.g., neck stabbing, sword impalement) to dispatch enemies quietly. Cutscenes depict additional acts of intense violence: a soldier lit on fire and beheaded; bound civilians lit on fire and burned at the stake; a decapitated man’s head held up towards the screen. The game also depicts a man’s exposed buttocks as he bathes in a hot spring. The word “sh*t” appears in the game.
While Death Stranding: Director’s Cut also received a new listing on ESRB as well this month, there is less to dissect from the original game as what was found from the Kojima Productions game. Even more, the release is interestingly enough listed for PlayStation 4 as well – which is unlike Death Stranding: Director’s Cut also.
Recently, it was claimed that Ghost of Tsushima could be expecting a standalone release with a reveal later this year. Dubbed ‘Ghost of Ikishima’, it is told to be framed similar to Infamous: First Light or Uncharted: A Lost Legacy as a separate experience from the original release from Sucker Punch Productions.
Additionally, Ghost of Tsushima is presumed to be one of the next upcoming PlayStation exclusives to arrive to PC. In that, an updated image for the game’s cover on Amazon indicates that it is no longer unique to PlayStation 4. Potentially, it could also signify this new uncovering as well.
