At least when rumors continued to flow for a new Nintendo Switch model underway, there was some understanding as to an enhancement in terms of what the unannounced model would offer. Initially, the system was told to be a direct competitor to Xbox & PlayStation with 4K/60 frames per second at the time. But, Bloomberg also went on to report an OLED display would also be on the way as well – not differentiating it with a separate SKU.

But, Nintendo this summer unveiled the Nintendo Switch OLED Model and with that came some confusion and squandered expectations. While playing in Handheld Mode shows to be improved, standard docked TV Mode is unchanged. But before more fans begin to gain hopes a new model shaped in favor of their desires is announced, Nintendo directly answers to the rumors.

Coming from the official corporate Nintendo Twitter account, the Japanese firm addresses that there is no future plans for a new Nintendo Switch model at this time. The company did so by confronting the rumor head on and shutting down any speculation for the near future.

“We also want to clarify that we just announced that Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) will launch in October, 2021, and have no plans for launching any other model at this time,” the company includes in a second tweet earlier this month. Previously, Nintendo did state a similar comment on its Nintendo Switch line at the start of January which Bloomberg reported then.

Currently, Nintendo Switch is leading 2021 with the best performing hardware commercially on the market. While not in dollar value like the PlayStation 5’s launch, the Nintendo Switch did sell the most so far according to a report from NPD Group earlier in July.

Additionally, claims surfaced suggesting that Nintendo with the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD-themed Joy-Cons resolved the ongoing drift issue with the controllers. But, SpawnWave proved the rumored adjustment is no different than what is found in older gamepads already. You can read the full report by heading here.

Were you hoping a new Nintendo Switch would be announced to follow the OLED Model?
