Over at Bandai Namco, the Japanese publisher continues to deliver consistent and fruitful releases on a variety of anime/manga-originated properties. For Dragon Ball, the firm alongside CyberConnect2 delivered Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The game follows the origin story of the titular character Goku in an RPG format which is not the tradition tenet most Dragon Ball titles follow.

From our review for the game, critic David Rodriguez concludes with the title to be one both fans and newcomers can enjoy. “It’s a world of Dragon Ball out there, and Kakarot is another in a line of strong titles that is rewarding for fans of the series and a great entry point for newcomers.” Now, Bandai Namco is branching to yet another new subgenre for the IP.

On Tuesday, Bandai Namco and game studio Dimps announces Dragon Ball: The Breakers. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“Caught in an unexpected temporal phenomenon, seven ordinary citizens find themselves stranded in a Temporal Seam: they share their imprisonment with the Raider, a menacing enemy from another timeline with an overwhelming power,” the description for the game reads on Bandai Namco’s website.

“Their only hope for survival is to break out from the Temporal Seam with the Super Time Machine, but the Raider is on their tracks and becomes stronger by the minute. In a race against time the cunning of Survivors clashes with the power of the Raider, to break free or be broken.” Bandai Namco also comments a closed playtest for PC is to take place later on.

Noted, Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a cooperative, online experience, so players are surely to interact when playing the new game upon release. However, details on if cross-play was not pressed in the initial announcement. Fanbyte News Editor Imran Khan told that the publisher had no word on the matter after contacting the firm.
