For the past year, the PlayStation 5 has illustrated to be the most successful console on the market in history. However, despite the commercial milestones set by the fifth iteration of PlayStation hardware, Sony continues to invest in improving the experience on the system’s firmware moving forward. In the past we witnessed this with features such as USB storage alongside cross-generation share play as well.
More eye-opening was the discovery for Trophy Tracker and additional mobile features implemented for the PlayStation 5 this past September. Ahead of these new systems being added to the hardware’s interface, Sony has resumed the beta for PlayStation 5 users as it did with the predecessor already in the past.
In a new rollout for beta users on PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5, Sony is to deliver a new update which includes a slew of coming features including the renaming of voice chat to parties alongside limited voice command support for select regions.
Voice chats are now called parties. For easier access, we’ve divided the Game Base menu into three tabs: Friends, Parties and Messages.
When you start a party, you can now select either an open party or a closed party:
-An open party lets your friends see and join the party without an invite. Friends of party members can also join. We’re also testing a feature that enables voice commands for finding and opening games, apps, and settings, as well as controlling media playback on the PS5 console.

More exciting is that headsets are also receiving mono audio for those awaiting for the support. “You can now enable mono audio for headphones so the same audio is played from both the left and right headphones, instead of a stereo or 3D audio sound mix. This feature provides an added option to enhance the PS5 audio experience.”
Additionally, Trophies receive a UI update alongside a suggested feature to point players at which Trophy to tackle next for the respected game on PlayStation 5. The overall UI on home also welcomes the option to list up to 14 different games and/or apps. A genre filter is also included for players to search by the type of game as well.
