Although publisher Electronic Arts is pretty easy to guess with some of its coming projects with annual releases from its EA Sports division including titles like Madden NFL & NHL, the firm is expanding its library with other legacy franchises as well. Already, Respawn Entertainment previously pressed it is working on three separate Star Wars titles – including a sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Additionally, firm also went on to mention the significance of the Need for Speed franchise. In that, it was already confirmed that developer Criterion Games is helming the next entry in the series after being a support team for nearly a decade. But it was in a later statement from CEO Andrew Wilson that the series is a “meaningful part” of the publisher’s future.
During the latest financial report from Electronic Arts, the firm acknowledges there are four unannounced titles slated to release leading into 2023. The publisher more specifically lists four projects for Q4: “Major IP”, “Partner Title”, “Remake”, and “Sports Title”. The most eye-opening comes from the remark to a remake project.
Already, the firm has been transparent alongside EA Motive with Dead Space which is currently slated for early 2023. Although there is not specific listing for the title, it is certainly plausible that the unnamed project is a separate IP altogether. Leaning on the new IP, it is speculated we could from Respawn Entertainment for that. In early 2021, job listings surfaced for a new project which is to feature “adventuring forever”.
However, the game has not been referenced since the initial discovery. So on the off-chance that the firm does plan to reveal and ship the game by the end of Q422 is certainly up in the air. Need for Speed is also enroute for the near future according to its financial statement. “Our pipeline for this year and future years features big, beloved IP that we cannot wait for players to experience – including Need for Speed.”
Noted, Electronic Arts this week disclosed it will be dismissing future partnerships with FIFA starting next year. 2022 will mark the last time the two will ship out a FIFA title from EA Sports. Moving forward, the publisher will be working on EA Sports FC starting next year according to the press release.
