While Atlus titles are prominent forms of entertainment over in Japan, the niché projects like Persona and Shin Migami Tensei has slowly grown in popularity over in the west for more than a decade. It was just over a year ago with the success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon that publisher Sega gave the greenlight to ship future titles with worldwide releases.

Most recently, Atus & Sega revealed that Persona 3: PES, Persona 4: Golden, and Persona 5: Royal will all be releasing one more platforms. Originally, the announcement scheduled its release starting in October for Xbox & PC. However, it was later on that the firm also shared the game will also be releasing for Nintendo Switch as well.

With the growing popularity of these, Atlus has revealed that these Atlus IPs are eligible to transcend into other mediums as well. When speaking to IGN, Catherine, Persona, and Shin Migami Tensei are the next properties to being adapted into film/television.

“Atlus’ worlds are filled with high drama, cutting-edge style and compelling characters, Sega’s lead producer on the live-action Toru Nakahara said to IGN. “Together, Sega and Atlus, are working to bring these stories and worlds to life through new mediums and for new audiences. As we know already, Sega is running off the recent success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which hit theaters this past spring.

Additionally, Sega is already underway with plans for a Yakuza film as well. In that, 1212 & Wild Sheep is involved in bringing the production to life. The direction of the picture has yet to be shared if Hollywood will stay faithful with Japanese actors/dialogue or to bring English-speaking characters to the series.
