Although it has been around two decades since the last installment of the Jet Set Radio series, this growing desire for a successor has been taken into the hands of Team Reptile. The studio most noted for the Lazer League series is now helming a new title – Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – and with it includes original composer Hideki Naganuma. However, development has remained to be longer than many anticipated since the original announcement.
Back in summer 2020 Team Reptile revealed the game to the world. But the game was promised a 2022 release window soon after. Even more, the game also welcomed a Nintendo Switch version to launch alongside the PC port simultaneously. And with another platform adds more to the workload and Team Reptile did not sugar coat the wait with 2023 the new launch window for the game.
At the Wednesday Nintendo Indie World presentation, Team Reptile revealed Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is set to release later this August. You can watch the new release date trailer in the video below:
Noted, the game is only launching for Nintendo Switch & PC as stated previously in the article. But developer Team Reptile has confirmed that more consoles are in the works. In fact, the developer clarified we could see the versions for Xbox & PlayStation in a matter of weeks. Speaking with Gematsu, it is confirmed that “roughly one or two weeks later” would be necessary only if there is “no weird platform-related issues come up.”
Elsewhere recently, it appears Sega is listening to the outcry for Jet Set Radio after all. In a internet-shaking leak earlier this month, footage for Persona 3 Remake and Jet Set Radio Remake both appeared online. You can read the full report by heading here.
