While Epic Games has already built its own empire with the continuously growing success of Fortnite years prior, the publisher continues this in its new spree of prominent developer acquisitions. In 2019, the firm shared its efforts to buyout Rocket League developer Psyonix. Additionally, its buying power was no secret to other teams as Fall Guys studio Mediatonic also faced the fate later on.
Another surprising acquisition came in the form of Rock Band developer Harmonix as well. Noted, Epic Games even went lengths to invest in other industries such as music with Bandcamp more recently alongside the previous investment in other game studios including Remedy Entertainment (Control), Play Dead (Inside), and gen Design (Shadow of the Colossus).
Now in a new announcement recently, Epic Games is forming a new chapter in Latin America. The deal is for Brazil-based team AQUIRIS which is noted for the work on Horizon & Wonderbox. The purchase follows a previous investment made by Epic Games last year.

“AQUIRIS has been on the forefront of game development in Brazil and Latin America, and becoming part of Epic Games will spotlight our region’s developers for the entire industry.” The newly-formed Epic Games Brazil is said to still reside within its Porto Alegre studio as it works ‘to create groundbreaking content and social experiences’ regarding Fortnite.
