Of course, one of Square Enix’s most-anticipated releases this year has yet to arrive – Final Fantasy XVI. And while the next mainline installment takes the spotlight – and rightfully so – there is another title that already shipped with plenty of modern Final Fantasy DNA. That is Forspoken: from Luminous Productions that shipped Final Fantasy XV has a new game that released on PlayStation 5.
Noted, the title despite currently being unique to PlayStation 5 is not eternally exclusive. In fact, the wait was already shared to be a couple of years. In an updated version of the exclusivity deal for PlayStation 5 via a trailer promo, it reveals that this arrangement only stands until January 2025. Already, post-launch content is on the way for the game.
From Square Enix & Luminous Productions, add-on ‘In Tanta We Trust’ is scheduled to release closer to the end of May on the 26th. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“The new DLC is set after the original game’s story. Frey has brought peace to Athia, but the effects of the Break remain. As Frey searches for a way to free the land from this corruption, she hears a mysterious voice. Following it leads her to a destination she could never have expected: the past,” the overview reads in the blog post.
“She arrives, injured and draped in blood-soaked clothing, and finds a land at war. She has travelled to the Purge of the Rheddig – the legendary battle that devastated Athia and eventually drove the Tantas to madness. She also learns a grim truth about herself. Accompanied by Tanta Cinta and a new set of magical abilities, Frey sets out to discover the truth behind these events, save Athia… and perhaps also herself.”
Recently, Square Enix revealed its intentions for Luminous Productions shortly after the release of Forspoken: acquisition. The deal took place back in February just a month after the launch of Forspoken adding the developer to its onslaught of internal studios. You can read the full report by heading here.
