In recent weeks, it has been officially accepted that the Xbox Series X|S and just the greater Xbox brand is in last place. From a statement from platform lead Phil Spencer, he elaborates on Xbox loss in the ‘console war’. Additionally, Xbox Brazil also went on to confirm that the Xbox Series X|S has only sold a total 21 million units; nearly a 2:1 difference compared to PlayStation 5.

But despite the audience count of Xbox to its competitors, Microsoft has and continues to evaluate its hardware and feature new settings for its users. Previously, we saw a slew of new improvements including party chat background suppression, Xbox Elite 2 Wireless Controller LED adjustment sliders, and even an overhaul to the built-in game capture system as well.

On Wednesday, Microsoft confirms in an interview with The Verge that a new voice reporting feature will be added to the system features this week to record malicious or hostile exchanges that you can send to Xbox. It is part of a patchwork fix for Xbox Insiders in U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

If a player experiences something in our community that they don’t like and they want to report that to us, they have a variety of different options for doing that. We do moderation proactively on text, on images, and videos, and launching reactive voice moderation is about that audio portion of it.

Kim Kunes, Xbox General Manager of Trust and Safety

Kunes shares that this new feature will be able to record roughly a minute of voice audio. However, within 24 hours of it captured, Kunes says it will be deleted. She also goes on to elaborate that Xbox does not actively listen to your exchanges. “Recording is strictly done through the reporting functionality, and it’s only available for moderation purposes. So it’s not something that the player can save or share separately from that reporting mechanism to us.”

Previously, we’ve seen other partnerships formed to combat toxicity within game lobbies. The most surprising comes from the new collaboration between Ubisoft & Riot Games to bring this issue to the forefront for its titles and the greater industry. You can read the full report by heading here.
