At Sega, discussions for remakes are being tossed around for a while now as more titles are being repurposed for the latest hardware. In February, Like a Dragon Ishin was welcomed for the new Xbox & PlayStation. And in June it was revealed that Persona 3 is returning to modern consoles under a new moniker, ‘Reload’. So what else is coming?
Over a year ago, it was reported that both Jet Set Radio & Crazy Taxi were internally confirmed for the same treatment. And while a development has yet to surface for Crazy Taxi, footage for Jet Set Radio did unearth alongside the Persona 3 title before its announcement. Even more, there is room for other games as Sega COO Yukio Sugino said the firm is open to doing more in the future when speaking to Famitsu recently.
Elsewhere these past few days, leaker on Twitter @MbKKssTBhz5 sheds more light on potential plans for the Persona series pertaining to Sega’s involvement for more remakes. In that, the user answered questions from their followers on what other projects is underway. Firstly, a new Persona 5 fighting game is said to be in the pipeline – similar to Persona 4 Arena Ultimax that released last year.
Even more, the user goes on to expand on Atlus’ hands-off involvement for a good chunk of the new Persona 5: The Phantom X coming to China mobile devices. Ultimately, it was to give the Japanese team more focus to continue working on the next mainline installment. Previously, it was confirmed that the game is a main focus for Atlus.
The most eye-opening happens to be the firm’s ambitions beyond the next couple of projects. After Persona 3 Reload, it is certain Persona 6 will be its ultimate focus as well as rolling out Metaphor: ReFantazio. Beyond that, the leaker explains that a remake for Persona 1 & Persona 2 is also a desire that Atlus is hoping to explore later down the road too.
As for other projects Atlus is focusing on, another Persona 5 spin-off is being primed to ship this fall. Specifically, Persona 5 Tactica is on the way offering a new tale in this tactics-based experience. Even more, the title will launch for Xbox Game Pass this November.
