Ever since the launch of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, developer RGG Studio has pushed forward this new initiative to reshape the IP. Starting off, it is now ‘Like a Dragon’ as the initial ‘Yakuza’ title is no more. Additionally, the original combat is now unique to the spin-off Judgment series too as the RPG element go front-and-center. However, the series is to maintain its identity with Ichiban as Kiryu slowly takes the sidelines.

Beyond that, the new Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is setting up to being the biggest release yet from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. It is scheduled to launch later this month in January 2024. And even more, this comes following the November release of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name which was ranked the biggest launch for the developer on Steam recently.

And not only is the scale of the development large, but also the core of the experience. When speaking to Automaton, studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama says Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is up there on being the most time-demanding release yet. With no interrupted playing, he tells the game would require no less than three days to complete – and that’s without the extra activities/sidestories also.

“If you wanted to clear only the main story of Infinite Wealth, it would take about 3-4 days without sleep. That means no sleep, no detours, and almost no side stories, so please enjoy the game bit by bit, without losing any sleep.” RGG Studio games are known to be very lengthy asking for roughly 60 hours with most of what it offers. But for the main story alone requiring the same time leaves players baffled how much Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will offer upon release.

And that is just one segment of the game. There is also the New Game+ portion of the game where ‘Premium Adventure’ gives players more to explore in the end game. However, it was previously revealed that this once given feature is now behind a DLC you have to pay. You can read the full report by heading here.

What has you most surprised by the playtime requirement for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s sotry?
