Ever since the pandemic, live events for the gaming industry certainly have not been the same. While the world has reshaped back into what it was similarly prior to 2020, certain shows have felt the effects. The most evident has to be the pinnacle June convention, E3. Previously, it was reported that both 2024 & 2025 was off the table as organizers for the event would repurpose the show into something more appealing for the industry.
But by December 2023, the Electronic Software Association (ESA) confirmed that E3 will be done for good. So, what will take its place. The most fulfilling appears to be the Geoff Keighley-hosted Summer Game Fest. The show has scheduled a presentation for June 7th. Additionally, it appears IGN is also taking the reins with a live event as well.
In an announcement, IGN reveals that a new ‘IGN Live’ three-day event will be held in Los Angeles, California. The new event will be open to the public and tickets are now live for pre-order. Attendees can purchase tickets for each of the three days costing $25 a piece, or the $60 VIP – 3-day pass grants you select benefits including “a gift bag worth $50, priority access, reserved screening room seating, and more!”
“The event will transform the Magic Box at the Reef into the ultimate destination for pop culture fans and feature a dynamic stage show with developers, publishers, creators, and more across gaming and entertainment. Fans stepping into IGN Live can expect exciting activations and immersive experiences including demos, photo opportunities, exclusive merch, screenings, food trucks, live music, and much more.”
Recently, IGN held an online showcase in a continuing collaboration with Microsoft & ID@XXbox. The firm showcased over a dozen new and upcoming titles from smaller developers. You can read the full report by heading here.
