Developer Bluepoint Games for most of its standing involvement in gaming has supported the PlayStation platform. With the few exceptions porting Titanfall & Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to Xbox, it majority of support has been towards Sony’s console. And for the longest time, the firm emphasized on being independent. In 2021, the firm elaborated on this.
“Bluepoint Game is a fully independent self-funded studio. We are always looking for talented engineers, artists, and designers to join the team,” the team wrote for its description on Twitter at the time amid allegations of acquisition by PlayStation. By September later that fall, Bluepoint Games officially transitioned to being a dedicated PlayStation Studios developer.
Amid the announcement then, the firm is still working quietly on its first original IP. In a follow-up recently, Bluepoint Games reaffirms that the new game is still underway. While details remain light, it is still on the table currently.
Rewinding back to 2019, the developer did tease at new efforts underway for Bluepoint Games. In that, the firm hinted at least two projects are to “return from shadow”. Of course, one that came to fruition was Demon Soul’s. The game did receive an announcement and launched along the PlayStation 5 the following holiday.
What’s more, many did anticipate the team would revisit The Legend of Dragoon. In a separate report from 2019, Bluepoint Games did entertain the idea for a port on modern hardware. Head of technology Peter Dalton in a response on Twitter suggested making it a project then. You can read the full report by heading here.
