Summary

7.5/10
Overall, Crossy Road Castle can be a very addicting game as you'll want to beat your latest score constantly. The idea of not knowing what will come through the next door is one of the more thrilling aspects of the game. The best way to play this game, in my opinion, is to play Solo. If you're looking for something new to play on a console, Crossy Road Castle should be on your list.

Crossy Road Castle is the latest installment in the Crossy Road video game series by Hipster Whale. This time, instead of crossing roads, we are climbing up to the highest point of castles – or at least trying to. Your objective in this game is to jump through obstacles across multiple different types of castles such as the Construction Castle, Creepy Carnival, Space Station 115, Candy Cafe, Sandcastle Shores, and a lot more.

This arcade platformer not only features solo gameplay but also brings everyone together in the living room with its Co-Op mode for up to four players and it has Online Multiplayer. Through my experience playing Crossy Road Castle, I mainly played solo on the Nintendo Switch and it was still entertaining to play.

Crossy Road Castle offers a great amount of replayability. Undoubtedly, players will get their money’s worth with all the hours that can be put into this game. Aside from trying to reach the top of the Castle and defeat the bosses, there are over 150 characters and customizations to unlock. There are also plenty of hats for your character to showcase.

As the castles escalate, the obstacles get more challenging in Crossy Road Castle. Every 10 levels there is the opportunity to regenerate any health lost as long as you have enough coins collected. Almost every level when you replay a castle won’t be in the same order as you remembered. This arcade platformer avoids some repetitiveness which is a great plus for players.

Another great feature of each Castle is the levels are unique to themselves. For example, the Construction Castle will have you climbing through a construction building going through cranes and other related equipment. It’s not just a new color style when you get a new Castle, it’s a whole new world you unlock in Crossy Road Castle.

Once you reach a specific point in the castle, you will encounter a boss fight. I found these boss battles to be very engaging and enjoyable to play, rather than becoming frustrated.

The art style in Crossy Road Castle remains faithful to the series, capturing the game’s personality. The level design is surprising given how deep each castle goes. There is always something new players will be running into.

Overall, Crossy Road Castle can be a very addicting game as you’ll want to beat your latest score constantly. The idea of not knowing what will come through the next door is one of the more thrilling aspects of the game. The best way to play this game, in my opinion, is to play Solo. If you’re looking for something new to play on a console, Crossy Road Castle should be on your list.
