GOG To Add Fear & Other Monolith Productions Titles For Its Preservation Program Following The Studio’s Abrupt Closure

Recently, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the closure for one of its hallmark developers, Monolith Productions. Recognized for the Middle-Earth: Shadow franchise and its beloved Nemesis system, the team was also working on a new Wonder Woman game. Announced back in 2021, the game up until recently was reported to have restarted internally at the developer. That was until the team closed its doors for good.

And now with a historic developer to fall short by Warner Bros. Games, GoG.com is extending an arm to preserving the history of Monolith Productions. Although its later titles are to be preserved, other IPs like Fear & Blood are among those that the storefront is adamant to protect from being lost to time and negligence.

“F.E.A.R. Platinum – featuring the base game and both expansions – will be available as part of the GOG Preservation Program by next month. Originally scheduled for a later timeframe, we’ve decided to accelerate this release to properly recognize Monolith’s contributions to gaming,” GoG.com wrote in a post on X. “At GOG, we believe in celebrating the creative minds that have shaped gaming history.

“Monolith Productions has given players some of the most unforgettable experiences, blending groundbreaking gameplay with rich storytelling. To honor their legacy, we’re proud to announce that F.E.A.R. Platinum will be joining the GOG Preservation Program – and sooner than planned, with other Monolith icons to join eventually as well.” The PC marketplace illustrates this with a vote for ‘The Operative: No One Lives Forever’ on its Dreamlist extension.

“But the story doesn’t have to end here – some treasures from Monolith Productions are yet to be preserved and made to live forever.
