Apex Legends ‘Beast Mode’ Event To Add New Power Sword Universal Mythic, Skirmisher Updates, And April Fool’s Day Takeover

Earlier in 2025, Respawn Entertainment rolled out the ‘Lunar Rebirth’ event for Apex Legends which returned the fan-favorite Buster Sword to the battle royale. However, despite a favorite mode making a comeback, the live-service has continued to suffer as players argue that Apex Legends is desperate to change for the game to remain fresh.

In an earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson explained that an overhaul for Apex Legends would be coming after the newest Battlefield – which is aiming to release in 2026. He phrased this update as ‘Apex 2.0’. Last month, Season 24 – Takeover arrived which did restructure plenty for Apex Legends in a better light to answer some of the demand of its concerned players.

Now this week, a new event is coming this Tuesday. ‘Beast Mode’ will introduce a new universal mythic and plenty of fixes. The event will be live from March 25th to April 15th. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“The Power Sword is in your hands…if you can find it that is. At the beginning of each match and once per round, a Power Sword will spawn and be up for grabs. Imbued with strength and close range attacks, you can wield this new piece to launch energy slashes while ADSing which also provides some additional defensive coverage,” the description for the Power Sword Royale mode reads.

“Many Skirmisher Legends are well known for using their mobility to either lead the charge into a fight or rotate early looking for one (leaving their allies behind). With this in mind, we wanted to give them a chance to turn that inherent nature into squad utility and allow their allies to keep up with their high mobility playstyle. We also wanted Skirmishers to feel free to be more aggressive with their abilities—knowing that if they perform, they’ll be able to earn that free charge to quickly escape or stay in the fight longer.”

It continues on the Skirmisher update with: “Alongside these new perks, most of our Skirmisher Legends have received updates to their abilities, Legend Upgrades, or both. And the Skirmisher’s perfect pairing, SMGs, are getting some buffs as well.” What has you most excited for this latest Apex Legends update?
