Earlier this month, Microsoft officially kicked off its next-generation campaign for the new Xbox console, ‘Project Helix’. Although there is no full understanding on the new system yet, the firm has pressed on plans for the upcoming console. One element that was picked up through eagle-eyed fans is that the ongoing ‘This Is An Xbox’ initiative has been silently shuttered by Microsoft in the past week.
Additionally, the Xbox firm at GDC has pressed on some of its ambitions for Project Helix. One is the abridged approach between console & PC; confirming that ‘Xbox Mode’ is coming to Windows 11 next month in April. As per Xbox vice president on next generation Jason Ronald, the backwards compatibility program is to make a return later in 2026 under a new light after being off the heat for roughly five years.
Now smaller elements that affect the current Xbox ecosystem are also here as well. As per the monthly Xbox update regiment, Microsoft has issued a suite of new additions to its consoles. Personalization got a new coat of paint now allowing users to specifically choose the hue to customize their account with.
“We know expression and personalization matters. That’s why we’re introducing custom colors, giving you more ways to express yourself across the console,” Xbox senior product manager Alex Charters shares. “Instead of being limited to the existing system colors, you can now create a custom color that’s uniquely yours. Use the sliders to dial in the perfect hue and shade for you. You’ll also see a subtle splash of your chosen color in your Guide.”
Also, Quick Resume received an update now enabling users to decide which games are applicable to the feature. “With this update, you can disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis to ensure those games always launch fresh.” Again for profile customization, badges now display directly on the Guide when highlighting an account.
“Profile badges highlight notable moments and milestones across a player’s Xbox journey. Now, when you open your own profile or view another player’s profile in the Guide, you’ll now see their five most recently unlocked badges, making them easier to spot while browsing profiles.” Groups also gets refreshed now available to create up to 10 in total.
What part of this update has you most excited to see added?
