Activision has implemented a new update to Call of Duty where they will now require players to add their birthday to their account. For other games, this may already be a normal setting that comes up to add info onto your account, but it’s a first for Call of Duty.
Once your birthday is added, you’ll be able to begin playing, but if you are underage, a Parental Consent Required will pop up on the screen with a guide on how to continue to play.
In a statement shared by CharlieIntel, Activision said the following:
“In accordance with our efforts to deliver a positive community experience as detailed in the Call of Duty Code of Conduct, Activision players are being asked to provide updated information to their accounts.”
This might become more of a normal setting with future Activision games or even Microsoft games to best protect players in the community. This also comes just a few months before Black Ops 7 releases, with its worldwide reveal happening on August 19 at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
In other Call of Duty-related news, a couple of the studios working on the series were impacted by the recent Microsoft layoffs.
