Nintendo Announces New Prices For The Original Nintendo Switch Device Line

The current forecast for Nintendo hardware news remains to follow keenly behind the newest Nintendo Switch 2. Since its launch nearly two months ago, it set new records for hardware in the industry. It was revealed the system achieved over 3.5 million sold systems within its first week. The hardware went on to overtake the record held by the PlayStation 2 exceeding its first month generated sales in Japan as well.

As of the system currently, Nintendo reported that the first seven weeks for the Nintendo Switch 2 has amassed more than 6 million units. Of course, the trajectory still remains high with the latter half of 2025 now with crosshairs by the firm preparing for this coming holiday season. The original Nintendo Switch has already exceeded 150 million and is recorded at approximately 153.1 million units.

However, Nintendo shared additional news on the first Nintendo Switch as well on Friday. Via a press release, it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch will soon be facing a new string of prices for all three models – Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED Model. “Pricing for the original Nintendo Switch™ family of systems and products will change in the United States based on market conditions, effective August 3, 2025.”

The statement continues: “Other Nintendo products, including certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, select amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, will also see adjustments. Pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, physical and digital Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games, as well as Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will remain unchanged at this time. However, please note that price adjustments may be necessary in the future.”

Via Target, it did reveal the prices before being removed by the retailer. On its website, Target listed Nintendo Switch at $339.99 (was $299.99); Nintendo Switch Lite at $239.99 (was $199.99); Nintendo Switch OLED Model at $399.99 (was $349.99). It is assumed that the store listed the new prices early and was order to retract it.
