Earlier this summer, Nintendo Switch 2 welcomed its next major first-party release to its library – Donkey Kong Bananza. In our extended coverage for the game, Rectify Gaming has calculated the required playtime for the new release. Regular completion can expect around 15-20 hours of gameplay whilst a full 100% completion will take closer to 50-60 hours. We also confirmed that there are no chances for a version on the original Nintendo Switch.
In our review, we scored the game a 10/10 for being a required purchase if deciding to get a Nintendo Switch 2. “Donkey Kong Bananza is a one-of-a-kind experience. I truly believe that Donkey Kong Bananza is another masterpiece from Nintendo. In the years to come, I can see this game being regarded as a classic, and that’s a rare distinction for many games.”
During Friday’s Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the first major paid DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza is already primed for release and is out today on Nintendo Switch 2. ‘DK Island & Emerald Rush’ is priced at $19.99. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“In this paid DLC expansion, you’ll barrel around with Donkey Kong and Pauline on DK Island – the home of some familiar faces. Once you’ve finished the main game’s story, Void Kong will offer you a position in Void Company collecting as much emerald ore as you can in Emerald Rush, both on DK Island and in Layers from the main game,” the press release reads.
“In each run of this new mode, you’ll collect fossils to gain helpful Perks for different effects, and smash Banandium Gems to power up DK with different skills. Play this mode to unlock new fashions, collectable statues that can be displayed on DK Island and more. […] A free demo of the main game will also be available on Nintendo eShop later today.”
