GameStop Still Honoring Original Game Pass Ultimate Pricing, Price Change Effective Nov 4th

It is no secret the upcoming changes for Xbox Game Pass. Already, Microsoft put into effect the new arrangement for Xbox Game Pass Core & Standard – now Essential & Premium. Additionally, Game Pass Ultimate is being altered as well. Alongside including Fortnite Crew, the subscription is to cost users $29.99. PC Game Pass is also to cost $16.49, Microsoft announced.

To tackle those looking for ways to avoid the change, Microsoft also put into effect a new policy for Xbox Rewards: now unable to redeem subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass. Amid the wave of disappointment online, Microsoft did issue a statement on the matter: “We understand price increases are never fun for anybody, but we’re trying to reinforce by adding more value to these plans as well. It’s something we don’t take lightly, and we’re listening to the feedback of players and the community to try to provide them with more of what they’re asking for.”

Now as users remain upset on the upcoming change, GameStop confirms that the current plans by Microsoft will not affect its offerings. On X, the official account confirmed that the change will not apply to listings on its website.

It is unsure if this will directly apply for the time being until Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is properly switched to the new pricing or that GameStop is sitting on a mound of retail pre-paid cards with the fixed price. What appears to confirm when the change is coming is via an email to users subscribed to the Ultimate tier. In a post on X, Geoff Keigley reveals November 4th is the date the new price is in effect.

“Thank you for being a subscriber of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. We are planning to update our prices to address changing market conditions,” the email reads. “This price change allows us to continue to bring you more value and great games for the very best gaming experience. Starting November 4, 2025, the 1-month subscription price will be $29.99 plus applicable taxes every recurrence period unless you cancel up to two days prior to your next scheduled payment date.”
