When it comes to recent turmoil surrounding Xbox & Microsoft, it did not take long for users online to celebrate more downfall for the platform. Already, Microsoft lit the fires online when revealing new price changes are coming to its current consoles. Additionally, extra fuel was doused over the flames when Xbox Game Pass would be revamped – including a new $30 price tag for its Ultimate tier as well.

But, it does not stop there. In a new report from Bloomberg, decisions made by Microsoft reveal another slip up that likely answers for the latest change to the subscription. Its inclusion of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is recorded to have lost the firm roughly $300 million in premium sales. All stacked together, this led to a new rumor that Microsoft was to permanently do away with its consoles as the platform hits new lows.

At least, that was perceived. The tip came from SneakersSO who was previously proven right about Xbox multiplatform plans, so there was some tangible standing in their claims. But when approached by Windows Central, the Xbox firm has verified that the rumor is not accurate. It elaborates that plans for a next-generation launch is in stone and plans to move forward with plans internally.

“We are actively investing in our future first-party consoles and devices designed, engineered and built by Xbox. For more details, the community can revisit our agreement announcement with AMD.” As worded by Microsoft, it stands by its arrangement with AMD. Previously, it was revealed a multi-year partnership directly with Xbox would bring new longevity to Xbox in what its ecosystem will offer – including console.

Looking forward, it was confirmed that plans are underway for the platform’s 25th anniversary in 2026. Alongside celebrating Halo, Microsoft has announcements & new collaborations to commemorate the approaching milestone for Xbox. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised that the rumor was not true?
