The ongoing shake up for Apex Legends continues as Respawn Entertainment is adamant to introduce more to the battle royale to appease new & recurring players. When Season 26 – Showdown arrived, players were met with the new Wild Card game mode that breaths new life into the live-service. Followed by the later ‘Galactic Games Event’, Titanfall-esque wallrunning was featured for a limited-time too.
Later on, the other ‘Wild Iron Event’ introduced a new mythic Flatline skin as well as revamps to both Seer and Mad Maggie to shake up the current meta. Additionally, the arrival of ‘Raise Hell Event’ brought a new taste of Halloween with an entirely dedicated Wild Card mode that further shifted the tone for Apex Legends that engages and challenges its players.
Now this week, Season 27 – Amped is here and introduces a slew of changes. The most notable is the addition of meta changes for Horizon, Rampart, and Valkyrie. And, Olympus gets a major shift in its selection of POIs as well. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:
“Float into a more competitive Olympus, with NEW POIs: Somers University, Gravity Engine, Stabilizer and Dockyard! After a mysterious, second Olympus is discovered crash-landed on Págos, Horizon moves in to uncover what it all means, and to get this Olympus back in the sky and competition ready,” it reads. “By reducing open space and reworking problematic areas like Orbital Cannon and Energy Depot, this Olympus aims to provide a smoother competitive experience with safer rotations and more cover.”
The blog continues: “Valkyrie is ready to rule the skies with a revamped jetpack; she can take flight quicker and move further than ever before. Rampart’s walls now have a roof that allows her to bunker up. Charge up your amped walls by dealing damage, then charge into battle. Horizon is primed with new upgrades that enable her to either float off her lift, or quickly slam to the ground.”
